Context

The Sustainable Urban Energy and Emissions Planning Guidebook (SUEEP) was designed to facilitate energy planning and green growth strategy creation for cities in Southeast Asia. The guidebook outlines a 14-step process for developing institutional capacity to improve energy and emissions performance, and concludes with a short list of high-priority energy efficiency programs. This process, laid out in the guidebook, helps to align overarching city goals of growth and inclusivity while addressing both energy and greenhouse gas emissions concerns.

Our Role

While at a previous employer, Byron Stigge led the project and the creation of the SUEEP 14-step framework. He was the lead for the pilot city mission in Surabaya, Indonesia, where he spent two weeks validating the approach & assumptions of the process with municipal government officials.  Byron led the development of the guidebook document which became a user-friendly guide that was distributed and utilized in dozens of cities in Southeast Asia since its development.
