Context
The Penn’s Landing redevelopment project will take place on two prime parcels along Philadelphia’s Delaware River waterfront, an area that has been the subject of redevelopment interest for decades. Level Infrastructure joined a team led by Hoffman Associates and Perkins Eastman in responding to a development RFP for the Penn’s Landing site. Hoffman and Perkins Eastman, having developed a similar property called “The Wharf” in Washington, DC, were well-positioned to win this competition, and proposed a vibrant river walk, a multi-modal transportation hub, an entertainment venue, residential towers, and an office building within the 10-acre parcels comprising the site.
Our Role
Level Infrastructure supported the Perkins Eastman team by incorporating sustainability strategies into many facets of the development proposal. Level’s contributions included sustainable stormwater management, occupiable green roof concepts, and LEED strategy. Level also crafted an innovative energy plan, future-ready for carbon neutrality, that included an all-electric heating and hot water strategy relying on air-source heat pumps and district energy sharing between office, entertainment, and residential uses.
